MUMBAI: When ‘English Vinglish’ premiered at Toronto International Film Festival last year, producer R Balki mentioned that the foreign media compared Sridevi to Meryl Streep. It might be too much of a coincidence now with Sridevi probably about to star with Meryl Streep in a Hollywood film.
Producers Jeremy Wall and Jerry Leider, the latter of whom recently produced ‘On The Road’, have approached Sridevi for a project called ‘Cowboys And Indians’.
The film will be helmed by Amy Redford who has acted in small roles in ‘Maid In Manhattan’ and the TV show ‘Sex And The City’, but is well-known for being the daughter of Hollywood legend Robert Redford (‘All The President’s Men’, ‘Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid’).
Sridevi’s manager Punkej Kharbanda states, “Yes, we are happy to have received a communication about a project with Ms. Meryl Streep.”
If Sridevi does accept the role, it’ll be amazing to see a face-off between the two actresses. Also looks like the English Sridevi learnt in ‘English Vinglish’ will finally be put to good use.
