MUMBAI: GDC Technology has signed a new digital cinema server deployment contract with Barco, a digital cinema pioneer. A total of 400 GDC SX-2000A servers with Integrated Media Block (IMB) will be deployed into the cinemas of China Film Group Corporation (CFGC) under this contract, and full deployment is expected to be completed by the end of 2011.
GDC will work in partnership with Barco in this latest round of digital cinema system deployment for CFGC. GDC will supply, install and maintain all the GDC SX-2000A servers, while Barco will provide similar services in connection with its Series 2 DLP Cinema projectors. GDC’s SX-2000A with IMB offers a future-proof 4K upgradable solution and the finest quality 3D playback with 12-bit 4:4:4 output images (left and right) that features a much fuller color spectrum 500 times richer than that of legacy servers. In addition, GDC’s IMB is now the only IMB in the industry that has acheived FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certification, one of the highest level security thresholds specified by Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI).
To date, GDC and Barco have in joint cooperation installed well over 2300 digital cinema systems in China alone. With the launch of GDC’s new SX-2000A server with IMB in May 2010, customers worldwide have begun to adopt GDC state-of-the-art digital cinema technology which in combination with Barco’s Series 2 DLP Cinema® projector provides a one-stop integrated solution.
