Sony launches SET and Animax in Africa

MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) has launched Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and Animax in Africa in November.


 


The channels were launched on MultiChoice’s digital pay-tv satellite platform DStv.


 


“SPTI continues to build on the strength of its brands, maintaining a steady momentum of networks’ launches around the world. We are thrilled to now be launching both SET and Animax channels in Africa, joining an increasingly dynamic pay-TV market and furnishing viewers with a broad choice of world-class content,” says SPTI senior vice president, international networks Ross Hair.


 


Launching under the tagline “100% Entertainment,” SET will be airing movies such as Charlie’s Angels and A Knight’s Tale amongst others as well as shows like Rescue Me and The Shield. Currently seen across 100 countries, reaching more than 70 million households and broadcast in three languages, SET made its debut in Africa on 2 November.


 


Animax, on the other hand, has animé shows like Hellsing, Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. and Samurai 7.
