MUMBAI: Paul Friedman has been promoted to senior vice president of music business affairs for Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Friedman reports to Sony Pictures Entertainment executive vice president of Music Affairs Group Shelly Bunge.
In his new role, Friedman will be responsible for transactions related to music on behalf of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s global operations. In this capacity, he handles the acquisition of music rights for content including theatrical, television, home entertainment, online, mobile and videogame productions, as well as marketing and merchandise.
"Paul brings a tremendous amount of dedication to the job. He has consistently provided music business support on the studio’s most successful projects, including worldwide blockbusters such as Spider-Man and The DaVinci Code," said Bunge.
Friedman, who joined Sony Pictures in 2001, continues to be a leader within the Business Affairs department handling transactions related to music for the studio. He previously practiced law in Los Angeles, most recently for King, Holmes, Paterno and Berliner, LLP; worked as a financial analyst for Polygram Music Publishing; and was as an attorney in private practice at two other entertainment law firms.
