MUMBAI: Dori Media Group, the media company active in the field of television, with a focus on production, distribution, broadcasting and merchandising of Telenovela, is pleased to announce that DMG has signed a deal with Sony Pictures Television in the United States for the format rights of Dori Media’s TV show LaLola, the Telenovela produced by Dori Media Contenidos based on an idea by Sebastian Ortega of Underground Productions.

LaLola has already proved to be a big global hit having been sold to 30 countries including France; Italy; Germany; Russia and Spain in less than one year. The show has also received many accolades including being the most awarded drama series at the prestigious 2007 Clarín Espectáculos Awards in Argentina, one of the largest Telenovela markets, including “Best Daily Fiction Comedy of the Year”. The show was also recently voted the most “unmissable” Telenovela in Argentina by the readers of “Clarín”, the most widely read newspaper in Argentina, where the 100th episode of LaLola out of 150 was recently aired.

DMG CEO and president Nadav Palti said, “We are delighted to be able to announce this deal with Sony Pictures Television; which is a very significant deal for Dori Media Group. This is a great opportunity to team up with SPT to promote LaLola to the US TV audience, which we expect will also lead to further breakthroughs for the show in western European markets whose appetite for adapted Telenovelas continues to grow. This deal strengthens our belief that the global demand for Telenovelas is increasing and the agreement reflects our aspiration to develop the Telenovela concept and continuously seek new opportunities to promote it.”

Sony Pictures Television senior vice president of drama development Sharon Hall said, “We were immediately attracted to ”LaLola’s” fully realized characters and storylines. We believe the show has the potential to be a hit in the US and we are delighted to have secured the US rights to the show.”
