Mumbai: The recently launched music album Jannat, composed by Pritam, has been topping music charts only three weeks since its release in the Indian market. Its lead track Zara Sa is also the hottest new entry in the mobile download scene. On the retail and wholesale front, Jannat is among the top three albums in the charts in all the music stores.
Pritam said, "Among all my compositions, Jannat has been one of my most challenging and gratifying albums so far. The response I have been getting is phenomenal; many say it’s my best work till date. I have worked with a great team – Sayeed Quadri’s lyrics and the unbeatable voices of KK, Richa Sharma, Rupam Aslam and Kamran Ahmed – their talent will surely create an unforgettable impression in everyone’s heart."
A few weeks back, Jannat was involved in a legal tussle for the music rights, with T-Series on one side and Sony BMG and Vishesh Films on the other. It ended with T-Series withdrawing its claims and Sony BMG maintaining its rights to the music.
Mukesh Bhatt added, "The music of Jannat is reminiscent of the days of Murder, Raaz and Gangster. My phone hasn’t stopped ringing with people constantly calling to say what outstanding songs Jannat has! Reviews, ratings and response from the trade have all been just superb. I’m really thrilled. It’s a great start to our alliance with Sony BMG."
Sony BMG India managing director Shridhar Subramaniam added, "We began this year with the magnum opus of Jodhaa Akbar and now we have the colossal album of Jannat in our hands. To have such brilliant projects one after the other is any music label’s dream. And it’s a reality for us. We have always had great belief in the Bhatts’ sense of good music, which has created many milestones in Bollywood. Jannat cements this conviction; it strengthens our association with Vishesh Films. The reaction from the market, listeners and critics is just the first phase. There is much more to come from this mammoth album – the music of Jannat is definitely something we will look back to and be proud of."
The album comprises six songs along with remixes of two songs. It opens with the soulful music track – Zara Sa, sung evocatively by KK. With the perfect blend of music by Pritam and lyrics by Sayeed Quadri, the track is already considered as the biggest love songs of this year.
The second track Judaai is already the underground hit – the latest number to rock the dance floors. With a smooth rock approach, Judaai is sung and composed by Pakistani singing sensation, Kamran Ahmed. The innovatively shot video featuring Emraan Hashmi is already a rage on TV.
