Mumbai: T-Series has acquired audio rights of Chandni Chowk to China that stars Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone.
Sources inform Businessofcinema.com that the music rights have been acquired for approximately Rs 55 – 60 million (Rs 5.5 – 6 crores). This is the highest that T-Series has paid for the music rights of a film. Last year, Om Shanti Om’s music was acquired by T-Series for approximately Rs 50 million (Rs 5 crores).
Chandni Chowk to China is being produced by Mukesh Taleja, Ramesh Sippy and will be distributed by Warner Bros Pictures India.
The comedy-action flick is being directed by Nikhil Advani and written by Shridhar Raghvan. Cinematography is by V Manikanandan and music has been given by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Kailesh Kher. Bappi Lahiri has also lent his voice for a song in the movie.
Chandni Chowk to China is said to be semi- autobiographical film potraying actor Akshay Kumar’s life. It will also see Padukone in a double role.
The movie is being readied for a Diwali 2008 release.
