Mary Kom Trailer Review: Priyanka Chopra’s Most Toughest Film

Amitabh-Bachchan-Mary-Kom[tps_footer]Priyanka Chopra will essay the life story of Olympic medal-winning boxer Mary Kom in the film.

In a two and fifty four minutes long trailer, we get to see a non-Manipuri looking Priyanka Chopra as Mary Kom.

The film essays the picture of Mary Kom‘s struggle to follow her dreams and be a boxer. The trailer traces the journey of the celebrated Indian sportsperson, from training to falling in love, getting married, having two kids and pursuing her boxing dreams.

We also get to hear some knockout dialogues: “Kabhi kisi ko itna bhi mat darao ke darr hi khatam ho jaaye“, or her coach after she becomes a mother “Ek aurat maa banke strong ho jaata hai aur ab tumhara takat do guna bad gaya hai“.

Mary’s father throws her gloves into fire and a man taunts her when he sees her with the gloves, “Ye dekho boxing gloves pehen ke aaya Mohammad Ali.”

What the audience will love in the film is that Priyanka Chopra as Mary always have the answers to all these questions, and is not afraid to say them.

To get into the skin of the character, Priyanka underwent rigorous training and has even spent 15 hours training to have the muscular look.

Last year, biopic on life of national sprinter Milkha Singh, played by actor Farhan Akhtar, had won the film several accolades.

Priyanka made it clear that it was wrong to compare the film with ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag‘.

“I think you can’t compare Mary Kom with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. For the first time a film has been made on life of a female athlete. It is disrespectful to say it is a trend of sports biopic film. Mary Kom is the pride of our nation,” Priyanka Chopra told reporters here at the trailer launch of the film.

“It is the most hardest film of my career. To bring her (Mary Kom’s) personality on screen was the hardest part. To bring the part of a fighter, a homemaker, and a mother was a challenge,” Priyanka said.

The film, directed by Omung Kumar and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.

Besides Priyanka Chopra, the film also stars Minakkshi Kalitaa, Shishir Sharma and Zachary Coffin in significant roles.

Mary Kom’ is slated to hit theatres on September 05, 2014.[/tps_footer]
