Shocking! TV Actress Gets Three-Year Jail In Forgery Case

Indu-verma[tps_footer]Television actress Indu Verma has been sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment in a 1996 forgery case. The legal battle against TV actor Indu Verma went on for 20 long years and finally, New Delhi Court announced the verdict recently.

Indu Verma has been convicted as she allegedly forged the cheques in 1996 and also for misusing the cheques of her employer Thomas Cook India Private Limited by purchasing jewellery worth Rs 17.50 lakh approx. The court convicted the TV actress on April 5 with three years jail imprisonment under sections-419 (cheating by impersonation), 403 (misappropriation of property), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of IPC.

The court had released the order on Wednesday that reads, “It is apparent that the convict (Indu Verma) has not only acted against the interests of an employer but also caused it loss to the tune of Rs 17.50 lakh. The convict’s conduct does not deserve any leniency.”

In 1996, the actress had misused the cheques impersonating herself as Shivani Arora and purchased jewellery worth Rs 17.50 Lakh. The owner of the jewellery shop as a witness told the court that the cheques, which were given to him were already signed.

At present, TV actress Indu Verma‘s sentence has been suspended for one month in order to file an appeal and has been asked to sign a surety bond of Rs 20, 000.[/tps_footer]
