Director Vikas Bahl Speaks On Khans Blocking Festive Releases


Well Bollywood stars have set a new trend to occupy their releasing dates during festive occasions and holidays. There would be a big tug of war between all the three Khans who have occupied festive occasions and holidays to release their much-talked upcoming films.

Yesterday, during the trailer launch of the most appreciated film Masaan, director Vikas Bahl gave his take on Khans blocking festive occasions for release dates.

Vikas Bahl who is producing Masaan under production house Phantom said, “It’s good that Khans are releasing films on festive periods. It’s ok if they are blocking festive dates. It’s good because it brings more money and helps small films.”

Well, talking about Massan trailer, Richa Chadha’s film Masaan has already received immense compliments from the onlookers and was even appreciated for its direction as well as characters at 68th Cannes Film Festival. The film got five minute long standing ovation at the Cannes Festival.

The story revolves around four characters that are trapped into a rigid social society. The film has lively feeling of what happens in today’s society and how women’s are in interiors of India.

Producer of the film Vikas Bahl at the official trailer launch said, “We always try to make different kind of films. We like to experiment. We get attracted to doing new things. It is challenging.”

Director Neeraj Ghaywan who made his directorial debut with Masaan spoke about the disadvantages and advantages of the screening the films at Cannes and other film festivals.

He said, “The good part is you get to show the film to a new and wider audience, you get buyers, it creates buzz back home. The flip side is films released at festivals are seen as arty.”

Starring Richa Chadha, Shweta Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra ,Vicky Kaushal, Masaan is directed by Neeraj Gaywan and is all set to release on July 24,2015 in India.
