MUMBAI: A song from UTV Motion Pictures and Vashu Bhagnani’s ‘Himmatwala’ is out now. The re-hashed version of 1983 version of the film starring Sridevi, ‘Naino Mein Sapna’ features Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah gyrate to the classic 80’s style wearing flashy costumes in the backdrop of ‘daflis.’
Re-recorded in the voices of Amit Kumar and Shreya Ghoshal ‘Naino Mein Sapna’ retains the lyrics from the original sung by Amit Kumar’s father, the legendary Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. Recreating the chartbuster music directors Sajid Wajid touched up the soundtrack to keep it in sync with today’s music.
Revealed Sajid, “Re- recording ‘Naino mein sapna’ for me was like being a part of history. Never before has a son sung the same song in the same style which was rendered by his father 30 years ago. When Amit Kumar started singing Kishoreda’s lines it was almost like Kishoreda had come alive to sing the song for us. There was only one Kishore Kumar and there will be only one Amit Kumar.”
The video of ‘Naino Mein Sapna’ is an explosion of colours and vibrancy. Eye-catching props like a big pink swan, elephants, pillars, and matkas – the extravaganza takes the viewer back to jumping jack Jeetendra’s era. Tamannaah’s costumes are a good replica of Sridevi’s, as are Ajay’s of the senior actor.
Directed by Sajid Khan, ‘Himmatwala’ is slated to hit the screens on March 29.
