The Akshay Patra Foundation, an NGO which works on providing mid-day meals to the children recently tied up with nine private companies. In the Feed the Future now initiative, the NGO aims at providing freshly cooked meals to maximum children. Shridhar Venkat, Chief Executive Officer, said: “The mid-day meals we serve children in schools is one of the most important meals, and sometimes, the only wholesome freshly cooked meal children get in a day. We are in exploratory talks with partners to look at ways to augment the nutrition intake in our mid-day meal programme.” Actors Vivek Oberoi and Sonali Bendre shared their thoughts on this initiative. Celebrity Chef Sanjeev Kapoor has also joined hands and will be creating new recipes. Music Composer and Singer Shankar Mahadevan was also present at the event. The campaign launched their anthem which was sung by the children at the event.
