Payal Kothari – LFW Summer/Resort 2012
'Totems of African Tribes' was the title of a collection by Payal Kothari of Veruschka which led one onto a surreal, exhilarating journey into the colourful world of exotic Africa. Bold eye popping colours such as red, yellow, orange and white were accentuated with animal embossed leather, piping weaves, embroidery and zebra prints. The collection consisted of wedges and wooden carved heels which were inspired by traditional African art as well as symbols used by African tribes. The designer, Payal Kothari was all about details and even introduced shoes with high collars, a representation of the tall neckpiece worn by African tribal women and to top it off, also made use of organic jute to add to the rawness of her collection, mirroring the African savannah. Unique and spunky; this collection was for the daring, fashion conscious woman.
