Compact Disc India to work on Tommy Lee Jones’ action film

MUMBAI: Compact Disc India (CDI) will be commencing a project revolving around a thrilling action story, to be directed and produced by Tommy Lee Jones.

As was first reported by Businessofcinema.com, CDI is also slated to close a deal to develop animated features based on the characters and titles of comic’s publishers Platinum Studios and Arcana Studios.

CDI has posted a net profit of Rs 83.5 million for the quarter ended 30 June, 2008, which is up 109 per cent from Rs 39.8 million in the same period last year.

The company’s total income saw a growth of 114 per cent to stand at Rs 433.6 million from Rs 202.2 million in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

Compact Disc India is currently working on animation films outsourced projects like If Tomorrow Never Comes, which is being made on a budget of $8.50 million; Hustle Bustle made on a budget of $12.45 million and 3000 B.C., which has been signed on a contract for $19.80 million.

Additionally, CDI is also working on its two animation films called Soccer and Eternal Love. Soccer is a 90-minute 3D animated film based on soccer, which is being made on a budget of $20.15 million. The movie is scheduled to release in June/July 2010.

On the other hand, Eternal Love, which is a true love story revolving around the Taj Mahal is scheduled to release in December 2009. The film’s budget is $15.70 million.

CDI is also planning to set up a state-of-art fully integrated animation studio in the Special Economic Zone at KINFRA Film and Video Park, Kazhakuttom, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The project is being set-up at a cost of Rs 503.8 million (Rs 50.38 crores). Besides CDI is simultaneously setting-up an animation development studio in Chandigarh for which prime land has already been allotted. The project is being set-up at a cost of Rs 585.60 million (Rs 58.56 crore).
