Darsheel nominated for Filmfare best actor

MUMBAI: After the child’s argument to be nominated for best actor instead of best child artist, Taare Zameen Par’s child actor Darsheel Safary has been nominated for category of best actor in a leading role (male) at the Filmfare Awards. Safary will be competing with the likes of Abhishek Bachchan (Guru), Akshay Kumar (Namastey London), Shah Rukh Khan (Chak De! India and Om Shanti Om) and Shahid Kapur (Jab We Met).


 


The awards are scheduled to be held on 24 February.


 


Nominated for the best actor in a leading role (female) are Madhuri Dixit (Aaja Nachle), Kareena Kapoor (Jab We Met), Rani Mukerji (Laaga Chunari Mein Daag), Vidya Balan (Bhool Bhulaiyaa), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Guru), and Deepika Padukone (Om Shanti Om).


 


In the best director category nominations include Aamir Khan for Taare Zameen Par, Imtiaz Ali for Jab We Met, Shimit Amin for Chak De! India, Farah Khan for Om Shanti Om, and Mani Ratnam for Guru.


 


Competing in the best film award category are Om Shanti Om, Taare Zameen Par, Jab We Met, Chak De! India and Guru.


 


The nominees for best actor in a supporting role (male) include Aamir Khan (Taare Zameen Par), Irrfan Khan (Life in a… Metro), Shreyas Talpade (Om Shanti Om), Anil Kapoor (Welcome) and Mithun Chakraborty (Guru).


 


The nominees for best actor in a supporting role (female) include Konkona Sen Sharma (Life in a… Metro and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag), Rani Mukerji (Saawariya), Shilpa Shukla (Chak De! India) and Tisca Chopra (Taare Zameen Par).

Best Music Director: A R Rahman (Guru), Monty Sharma (Saawariya), Pritam (Jab We Met ), Pritam (Life in a… Metro), Vishal-Shekhar (Om Shanti Om).


Best Lyrics: Prasoon Joshi for ‘Maa’ (Taare Zameen Par), Sameer for ‘Jab Se Tere Naina’ (Saawariya), Gulzar for ‘Tere Bina’ (Guru), Javed Akhtar for ‘Main Agar Kahoon’ (Om Shanti Om) and Vishal Dadlani for ‘Aankhon Mein Teri’ (Om Shanti Om).



Best Playback Singer (Male): Shaan for ‘Jab Se Tere Naina’ (Saawariya), A R Rahman for ‘Tere Bina’ (Guru), K K for ‘Aankhon Mein Teri’ (Om Shanti Om), Sonu Nigam for ‘Main Agar Kahoon’ (Om Shanti Om), and Sukhawinder Singh for ‘Chak De’ (Chak De! India).
