MUMBAI: The opening weekend box office collections for Kaminey and Life Partner are in.
The movies released worldwide on 13 August expect for Mumbai city, Thane and Pune. In these places, the two movies have released today.
UTV Motion Pictures’ Kaminey starring Shahid Kapur and Priyanka Chopra has done a net business of approximately Rs 170 million (Rs 17 crore) in India. On the other hand, Life Partner, which was released by Studio 18, has done a net business of Rs 62.5 million (Rs 6.25 crore) in India.
Collections from Mumbai city and Thane will start pouring in for both these movies from today.
UTV Motion Pictures CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur said, "Kaminey has surpassed all expectations with the sort of business it has achieved in the first weekend of release itself, coupled with the critical acclaim it has generated in India and around the world."
As per UTV, the movie has grossed Rs 330 million (Rs 33 crore) worldwide in its opening weekend.
Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Studio 18 director distribution Aman Gill says, "We are very happy with the performance of the film. Our marketing strategy along with the perfect release time has paid off. Our opening weekend collections are as per expectations. If Bombay and Pune were open, we would have done a net business of Rs 83.50 million (Rs 8.35 crore)."
