Shaitan cast faces trouble while shooting at Mohommad Ali Road

MUMBAI: The team of Bejoy Nambiar’s Shaitan met with a stroke of unfortunate luck while shooting in the by-lanes of Mohommad Ali Road in Mumbai.

A scene in the film required lead actors Gulshan Devaiah, Neil Bhoopalam and Shiv Pandit to sport a Burkha and walk down the Muslim dominated lane. However, this didn’t go down well with the locals who were aghast with men donning a burkha –  an attire religiously worn by Muslim women.

Being highly offended, the team was asked to stop shooting by the residents and that’s when Nambiar stepped in to explain that they were shooting for a film titled Shaitan. Though meaning to pacify, the name of the film itself upset the crowds even more and the shoot had to be cancelled for the day before they met with anymore trouble.

The scene was then shot over three schedules with strategically placed cameras in order to avoid any hassles from the locals.

Confirms Nambiar, "Yes, we did encounter a lot of trouble while shooting at Mohommad Ali Road. We finally captured the scenes successfully on the quiet after three hectic schedules and hidden cameras.

"

Starring Rajeev Khandelwal, Kalki Koechlin, Neil Bhoopalam, Shiv Pandit, Kirti Kulhari and Gulshan  Devaiah. The movie is slated to release on 10 June, 2011.
