MUMBAI: Producer and director Shashilal Nair (of Ek… Chhotisi Love Story fame) is all set to launch his next movie titled Lolita starring Jackie Shroff, Dimple Kapadia and new find Sweta, who will essay the title role.
If Ek… Chhotisi Love Story was about a younger boy’s obsession for an older woman (Manisha Koirala); Lolita, based on Vladimir Nobokov’s novel, is about a older man and his relationship with a young girl.
Nair’s plans to release the movie on the same day as Ram Gopal Verma’s Nishabd, which incidentally is also based on the same theme. “I am waiting for the announcement of the release date from Ram Gopal Verma,” says Nair.
Both movies revolve around the theme of a teenager falling in love with a 45-year-old man. Varma’s Nishabd stars Amitabh Bachchan, Revathy and Jiah Khan.
“Once Verma announces his release date, I will coincide my film’s release with it. The film is written, produced and directed by me under the banner of Paragon. The budget of the movie is around Rs 250 million (Rs 2.5 crores). The movie will be released in India as well as the overseas territories,” Nair says.
