MUMBAI: Television channel Star Gold will focus on the comedy genre all through April, culminating in the Comedy Honors – a tribute to Indian comic excellence.
The honours will salute the people and the films that have made viewers laugh over the years, says a release. An advisory panel consisting of comedy stalwarts of the Indian film industry will hand pick the awardees in each category. This panel will also pick out ten all time favourite comedy movies for a worldwide poll by the audience. These movies will be a mix of classics and current favourites. The audiences will vote for their all time favorite greatest comedy movie via sms, tele-voting and internet.
As part of the initiative, Star Gold will air a nine-part series of the 101 Greatest Comic Scenes ever.These special one-hour episodes, which will be aired every Saturday and Sunday, are a compilation of the best comedy scenes from the 70s will now.
Starting 2 April 2007, the channel will also air the Super Hit Comedy Movie Mela, which will include the best rib tickling comic films all through the month, says the release.
