T-Series’ next movie to roll by February end

MUMBAI: Shooting for T-Series’ next, a remake of a south Indian film, will begin by the end of this month in Rajasthan.

The as yet untitled film is a remake of Chandramukhi (previously made in Telugu as well as Malayalam), which starred Rajnikanth, Prabhu and Jyothika.

T-Series chairman and managing director Bhushan Kumar is currently busy getting the film’s music in place with music director Pritam. “The film will have five songs. We will also shoot a music video, based on the theme of the film, which will be used to promote the film,” says Kumar.

The film will star Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja, Amisha Patel, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav and will be directed by Priyadarshan. “It is comedy, with some thriller elements,” avers Kumar. “It has to be a comedy because it is a Priyadarshan film. In fact, we have added the comedy angles in our remake version to suit Priyadarshan.”

In the original version, Senthil (played by Prabhu) and Ganga (played by Jyothika), marry against the wish of their extended families, and move into a mansion right next to where the cousin intended as Senthil’s bride Shweta (played by Malavika) lives. Several members of Shweta’s family are miffed at Senthil’s “unauthorised” wedding, and his mother starts fearing for the newlyweds’ safety when they move next-door to their cousins.

Soon after moving into their new house, strange things start happening, including the appearance of a ghost of former occupant, Chandramukhi. Dr Sarvanan, played by Rajnikanth, is called in to explain the mysterious occurences.
