Udaan wins two awards at Giffoni Film Festival

MUMBAI: Udaan, co-produced by Anurag Kashyap, Sanjay Singh and UTV Motion Pictures and directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, has been awarded with the Best Audience and the Best Music Score Award by the Music Conservatory of Salerno at the prestigious Giffoni Film Festival.

The movie was also selected in the Un Certain Regard category in the Cannes Film Festival.

The music of Udaan has been composed by Amit Trivedi and lyrics are by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

UTV Motion Pictures senior vice president – international distribution and syndication Amrita Pandey said, "Udaan, winning awards at the Giffoni Film Festival Awards is a matter of great pride and honor for us. This is certainly a great incentive for us to produce films of such intriguing and captivating nature in future. The film has scored extremely well with the critics and the audiences alike in India and even internationally. Apart from being showcased at Cannes, Udaan continues to make us proud with such awards."

Motwane added, "I’m honoured and delighted with the three awards that we have won at Giffoni. These are Udaan’s first awards, hopefully the first of many to come, and I’m especially happy for Amit Trivedi and Amitabh Bhattacharya who are the unsung heroes of the film."

Trivedi said, "Winning the Best Music Score in Giffoni Film Festival, one of world’s largest children’s film festival is definitely a matter of pride for me and the entire team of Udaan. Since recent times, International audiences have largely started appreciating Indian music which is very encouraging for music directors like us. This very well proves that our music, is not only loved by our fellow Indians here, but, is also very well received by masses worldwide, meeting global tastes."
