UTV executive director D’Mello resigns

MUMBAI: Ronnie Screwvala promoted UTV Software Communications’ executive director and erstwhile chief operating officer (COO) Ronald D’Mello has put in his papers at the company.


Sources inform that he put in his papers last month and the various business heads were informed of the development on 22 June. However, Businessofcinema.com contacted him, he had categorically denied the development.


D’Mello had recently been made in charge of the newly formed company UTV-UK as its CEO. The new outfit houses the company’s new media initiatives including animation (UTV Toons), post production and SFX businesses (UTV Post) as well as the recent controlling investment in Ignition UK and India Games.


In his new role, D’Mello was mandated to spearhead the growth and strategy on the company’s new media business vertical. He would have been based in the UK and India as required.


D’Mello has been a founding member of UTV. Incidentally, a few years back, he had quit UTV to join Star TV but returned to the company in 2003 as director operations and finance.
