UTV Movies to launch in the US on Direct TV DTH

Mumbai: UTV Movies, the Hindi film channel from UTV Global Broadcasting Ltd (UGBL), will be available in US on the DIRECTV DTH platform from January 2009.

UTV Movies will be available on DIRECTV’s Hindi Direct programming packages which are part of the WorldDirect programming platform and are tailored towards Hindi speaking audiences within the United States. Within six months of its launch, UTV Movies is available in countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal, the Maldives, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, presenting films like Jodhaa Abkar, Race, Aamir, Jannat and Life in a…Metro.

UTV Global Broadcasting Ltd executive director Shantonu Aditya says, “We recently introduced UTV Movies in the Asia Pacific region and have seen tremendous success in these markets. Understanding the fact that there is a huge Indian Diaspora in the US and the growing popularity of Bollywood amongst international audiences we are pleased to take our channel to Hindi film fans through DIRECTV. The channel has a great mix of films which is sure to be a hit with ethnic audiences in the US.”
