Whistling Woods International launches School of Media & Communication

MUMBAI: Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods International has launched its latest initiative – Whistling Woods International School of Media and Communication (WWISMC). This unit will officially start its academic session from 25 July, 2012 onwards.

In an endeavour to create global standards in training and learning of journalism across media, Whistling Woods International has launched this new division, which will offer courses in audio-visual production management, advertising management, public relations and events management to corporate communications.

Whistling Woods International School of Media and Communication (WWISMC) will be a two year, full-time Post Graduate Program in Media & Communication, offering a wide range of subjects to choose from all under one roof.

The institute has also tied up with Annamalai University and its academic partner, 24X7 Learning, to team up along with the post graduate program, a global MBA in Media & Entertainment Management, focusing on soft skills & personality development, delivered online by Harvard Business School (Boston, Massachusetts).

Ghai said, "In our endeavor to offer the best training to our students we are expanding our portfolio to provide unique opportunities in the field of media and communication. Having such liaisons help students in expanding their horizons beyond filmmaking, enabling them to explore new career options with the best international expertise and schooling. I am hoping that the students grab this opportunity and make the most of it."

The school will be headed by Prof. Ujjwal K Chowdhury as dean. Chowdhury has more than 12 years of media education experience to his credit. He is the former Dean of Symbiosis International University, Founder Director of Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication, and former executive director of International School of Business & Media (School of Communication).

Chowdhury said, "This is the first time students will get an opportunity to avail of a dual MBA in Media & Entertainment along with the Post Graduate course in media and communication at Whistling Woods International (WWI). WWISMC is inching towards being the best institute offering a wide range of subjects and careers in turn saving the students their precious two years as well as giving them a great education with top class facilities. I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge alongside my fabulous faculty with the young and immensely talented students of WWI."
