Aamir Khan’s Dangal is based on the life of former wrestler and coach Mahavir Singh Phogat who trained his three daughters and one niece for the Commonwealth Games. His daughters Geeta, Babita, Kumari and niece Vinesh have been successful gold medalists. After numerous speculations including names like Kangana Ranaut and Taapsee Pannu being joined with the film, finally the casting for Aamir’s daughters in the film came to an end. Reportedly new comers Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra have been cast for the role.
Details of Aamir’s wife in the film have been unknown so it is hard to say who Mallika’s competition is. Although to see Mallika do a film like Dangal would be quite a different thing for her audience. Mallika is not the only one hoping to hop on board. Apparently wrestler Eddie Hall who is the winner of the title UK’s Strongest Man has expressed his interest to join the cast. He stated, “I like to be a winner. But I am ready to be defeated by the stars of Bollywood, if it provides entertainment to billions.”
Looks like Aamir Khan’s Dangal is creating a rage right from its casting process. One can call it as Mr. Perfectionist’s magic effect! The film encourages necessity for sports and one’s free will. It aims on educating parents to let their child follow his or her dream. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal is slated for a 2016 release.
