Having acted in more than 100 films Shashi Kapoor who won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 62nd National Film Awards, was acknowledged not only by his fans but also his nephew Ranbir Kapoor.
The Kapoor lad is all respects and smiles for his uncle’s achievement and also gave a tribute to the veteran Shashi Kapoor. Ranbir Kapoor screened the life history of the legend with his popular scenes and songs from the yesteryears and took over as a narrator.
Not only was this an all talk event, the crowd witnessing the event was seen cheering and applauding all of Shashi Kapoor’s famous scenes and songs like “Wada karo nahi chhodo ge mera saath” and “Ik rasta hai zindagi”. The onlookers apparently went gung-hoo when the dialogue “Mere paas maa hai” was played.
The audio visual treat was filled with special messages for the veteran from his co-stars Shabana Azmi, Sharmila Tagore and Amitabh Bachchan, and family members Rishi Kapoor and his son Kunal Kapoor.
The clip was a route to nostalgia when the co actors from the past were all happy about the legend’s achievement. Amitabh Bachchan was heard sharing, “He would accept project even though he had to work on four different films at the same time. He would be disciplined and punctual for all of them. And I admired this.”
Shabana Azmi who had shared the screen space with Shashi Kapoor opined, “He was the first person who started working in Hollywood. Now, we feel happy when we realise that ‘oh these people are accepted in Hollywood culture’, but he was all already there”.
Shashi Kapoor has stayed away from the media glare since a long time due to health hassles.
