The prosecution case of 2002 hit and run case against actor Salman Khan is on the last leg. On Tuesday actor Salman Khan was asked to appear in the court before March 27 for recording his statement on prosecution evidence in 2002 hit and run case.

Salman Khan’s statement would be recorded under section 313 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The actor would be allowed to tell everything he wants to in defence of him as the case is at the fag end of the trial.
The judge would also question the accused on certain aspects of the trail. While the latter will get a chance to present his defence on evidence put up by prosecution before the court, said prosecutor Pradeep Gharat.
Judge DW Deshpande has passed the orders to this effect after consulting the prosecutor and defence lawyer Shrikant Shivade.
Till now already 25 witnesses have submitted their evidences in this case. Also the court is yet to pass an order on an application by defence lawyer Shrikant Shivade. Shrikant Shivade had commenced the cross-examination of investigating officer Kishan Shengal. However, the prosecution has opposed the plea.
On Tuesday Salman Khan was not present in the court but his sister Alvira was present on behalf of him.

Salman had liquor before his car met with accident in suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002, killing one person and injuring four.

The actor has denied that he was on the wheel during the accident in 2002. If convicted, he could spend up to 10 years in prison.
