A group of activists wrote an open letter slamming the beauty queen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The activists called it as an offensive advertisement, the ad shows child carrying an umbrella over her head, which they felt is promoting child labour. In the ad, the actor is seen decked in jewels along with the child, dark and emaciated, holding an oversize umbrella over her head.

But the director of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s ‘Jazbaa’ went ahead in support of her. The director Sanjay Gupta tweeted, “Get a life guys. Sure you have more to do than write these dumb open letters.”

Sanjay Gupta also tweeted posting the original picture of Aishwarya Rai from the set of the shooting. He tweeted, “Here is the pic taken. What is done with it in POST is not in the artist/model’s hand.”

Take a look at one some part of the letter written in response to the open letter by an activist. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s publicist responded saying,

At the onset, we would like to thank you on drawing our attention to the observation of the perception of the advertisement. Here above an attachment of the shot taken by somebody during the shoot. However shall forward your article as a viewpoint that can be taken into consideration by the creative team of professional working on the brand visual communication. Thank you once again.” –  Archana Sadanand, Imagesmiths, Publicist to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
