MUMBAI: Producer Goldie Behl’s latest film ‘I, Me Aur Main’ starring John Abraham, Chitrangda Singh and Prachi Desai has failed to live up to its expectations on opening day. The film, directed by debutante director Kapil Sharma has not even managed a decent opening in its release weekend.
‘I, Me Aur Main’ opened to a very disappointing Rs 15 million (1.5 crore) on Friday, Day 1.
Saturday brought no respite for ‘I, Me Aur Main’, with the film doing only marginally better, with an approximate collections of Rs 17.5 million (1.75 crore) net; again, a very disheartening figure for a film starring A-list actors.
The verdict for ‘I, Me Aur Main’ is unanimously poor, with trade circles like Delhi and Punjab doing only slightly better than other areas. However, even the fair business coming in from these circles has not been able to salvage the situation in other districts.
Moreover, ‘I, Me Aur Main’ has not been able to impress critics either, with an average rating of 2-2.5 stars across the board.
Abhishek Kapoor’s ‘Kai Po Che’ still reigns the clear winner at the ticketing windows so far. This week’s other big release, Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘The Attacks of 26/11’ is also tanking at the box office, and with the shaky beginning, the future for the John Abraham-starrer ‘I, Me Aur Main’ looks very bleak indeed.
