The hard hitting film ‘Phantom’ starring Katrina Kaif and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles, has already completed its first weekend of release. The film which is based on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks has been much in limelight due to its raging controversies.
The Kabir Khan directorial film ‘Phantom’ on the first day of its release i.e. Friday managed to collect Rs. 8.20 crore (82 million) net approx. The movie surely fell short of its expected earnings but managed to build the gap with the holiday falling on Saturday due to Rakshabandhan. ‘Phantom’s Saturday collection was Rs. 12.70 crore (127 million) net approx. The Katrina –Saif starrer ‘Phantom’ stabilized its collection on Sunday with earnings of Rs. 12.10 crore (121 million) net approx.
The first weekend collection of the movie is Rs. 33 crore (330 million) net approx. With not a big start the film has managed to be on the go and has also bagged the title of being the 7th biggest weekend earner of the year as of now.
Coming to its first weekday collection, i.e. Monday, the hard hitting film collected Rs. 4.2 crore (42 million) net approx. The collection of Monday was surely a big drop for the film. Being a weekday the film did not see huge crowds at the screens. Further the film dripped more in its collections on Tuesday. ‘Phantom’ managed to collect Rs. 3. 55 crore (35.5 million) net approx. on Tuesday which was its fifth day of release. The total collection of all the five days for ‘Phantom’ amounts to Rs. 40.75 crore (407.5 million) net approx.
Based on the terror attacks of Mumbai, ‘Phantom’ is also in limelight because of its director Kabir Khan. Kabir Khan’s past successful record with ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has also been an added advantage for the film ‘Phantom’.
