LOS ANGELES: It was a big night indeed for Hollywood, at the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), which saw our very own Bollywood stars rub shoulders with their Hollywood counterparts.

Shining bright among Hollywood superstars like Daniel-Day Lewis, Anne Hathaway, Alec Baldwin, Tommy Lee Jones, Jennifer Lawrence, Kevin Costner and so many others, our Indian contingent stood proud and tall at the prestigious red carpet event.

Looking every bit chic was India’s very own Freida Pinto; who has turned into Bollywood’s most successful export to the West. Freida chose to break the monotony of the otherwise bland red carpet by livening things up in her fuchsia pink floor length gown. Arm-in-arm walked her boyfriend Dev Patel, looking dapper in a black suit. He doesn’t seem to have aged a day since Danny Boyle’s blockbuster ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

Also creating an ‘India Shining’ moment on the red carpet at SAG was Anupam Kher with his wife Kirron Kher. The couple stuck to traditional attire: he in a conservative black tuxedo, while she chose yet another flowing nine yards ensemble from her extensive sari collection. Anupam Kher was nominated alongside the star cast of his much publicized film ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ in the best film ensemble category, but unfortunately for India, the coveted award went to Argo.

Major recipients of awards at the SAG included:

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role
DANIEL DAY-LEWIS / Abraham Lincoln – “LINCOLN” (Touchstone Pictures)

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
JENNIFER LAWRENCE / Tiffany – “SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK” (The Weinstein Company)

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role
TOMMY LEE JONES / Thaddeus Stevens – “LINCOLN” (Touchstone Pictures)

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role
ANNE HATHAWAY / Fantine – “LES MISÉRABLES” (Universal Pictures)
