Warner/Chappell Music signs singer/songwriter Katy Perry

Mumbai: Warner/Chappell Music, the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group has inked a worldwide publishing agreement with singer/songwriter Katy Perry.

Under the agreement, Warner/Chappell Music will administer Perry’s catalogue of work and her future compositions including her latest album, One of the Boys, which was released on 17 June and debuted at No. 9 on Billboard’s Top Album charts.

In making the announcement, Warner/Chappell Music executive vice president and head of creative (U.S.) Glen Brunman said, "Perry is a tremendously gifted artist who has her fingers on the pulse of pop culture. We’re delighted that she has chosen to make Warner/Chappell her home and we envision a long and accomplished career for her as a songwriter for her own recording efforts as well as a writer who will provide exciting songs for a wide array of other distinguished artists."

For One of the Boys, Perry collaborated with an array of noted producers and musicians, including Greg Wells, who has worked with Timbaland and Natasha Beddingfield;  Dr. Luke, who has partnered with Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne; and Butch Walker, who has worked with Pink and The Donnas.

Hailed by Blender magazine as "the next big thing," Perry’s current single from One of the Boys, I Kissed a Girl, has sold more than 1.7 million digital downloads (according to Nielsen SoundScan) and is No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Hot Digital Song and Hot Digital Tracks charts for the fifth consecutive week and No. 1 on the Hot Ringmaster charts. In addition, One of the Boys is currently No. 4 on the Alternative Album charts.
