Big 92.7 FM, Baroda set on a ‘Go Green’ drive

Mumbai: Big FM Baroda has begun a ‘Go Green’ drive that would take environment friendly initiatives to fight global warming.

The station has tied up with the New Era School in Baroda for various environment-related awareness initiatives. As part of one such initiative, on 5 July, Breakfast Jock Tejal along with students and teachers of the school will lead a rally on Global Warming from Abhilasha Cross Roads to the city market in Baroda. The on-air promotions for the event began a week in advance with RJ’s providing environmental tips and inviting listeners to participate in this rally. The rally will eventually transform into a human chain bordering the famous Swati Market and will make people aware about the harmful effects of emitting gases and how it leads to global warming.

Plastic is notorious for its ill effects on the environment. In order to encourage people to join in the drive against the usage of plastic, another group of students from the same school shall carry out a procession, singing and dancing to the tunes of a popular remix number – Sanero Sanero…, the song gives a message to the society to join in the drive against plastic.

To promote the use of alternative material for bags, Students and Big FM listeners will also distribute Big FM branded cloth bags and paper bags (made by the students) in the vegetable market in exchange of plastic bags.

Speaking on the occasion, Big 92.7 FM Baroda station head Nikita Parekh said, "Global warming is one of the most serious challenges facing us today. To protect the health and economic well-being of current and future generations, we as a responsible medium, fulfil our role in the society by educating the masses on issues of social concern from time to time."
