Universal releases Enrique’s Insomniac

MUMBAI: Universal Music unleashed Enrique Iglesias’ second single / video Tired Of Being Sorry from his fourth English album – Insomniac, simultaneously on MTV and VH1.


Universal Music India managing director Rajat Kakar said, “We are delighted with the response we have got on the new album from Enrique. It just reinforces our belief that great music with innovative marketing is an unbeatable combination. Indian consumers are today in touch with global trends and want only the best.”


According to an official release, the launch of Enrique’s Insomniac in June 2007 was the biggest International album launch of 2007 India, not only in sales but also in scale. For the first time ever music TV, news channel and a private radio station were offered exclusive access to Enrique.
 
For the first time ever a mainstream news channel, Headline Today was part of an International album launch. The Enrique Special aired on the channel was the third highest rated show of the week it aired, claims Universal.


Also, for the first time ever, Enrique appeared on Indian radio, Fever 104 FM. Channel [V] even put him on an on air property called [V] Heroes, which till date only showcased Bollywood personalities.
 
In addition corporate partners Nokia, Airtel and alcohol brand DYC were also associated with the launch of Insomniac with a collective media spend of over Rs 10 million (Rs 1 crore).
 
According to Universal, barely 12 weeks later the album, Insomniac is currently the biggest and fastest selling international music album in India.
