AR Rehman Has A Million Dollar Arm

After composing a remarkable award winning music for Slumdog Millionaire, A.R. Rehman is at work again, it is quite evident because if you go to see a shot in an upcoming Hollywood Disney flick Million Dollar Arm, just notice the background score. You will hear a tamilian song – yes you heard it right!

Million Dollar Arm came to Mozart of Madras through Disney, A.R. Rehman accepted to do the score because of the subject and his state of mind at that time.

In Million Dollar Arm there is shot of two kids running into an open field and there plays this song Thirakkadha Kaatu Kulle, sung by Unnikrishnan and Chitra, featured in the 1999 film En Swasa Kaatre.

Million Dollar Arm, directed by Craig Gillespie, is a biographical sports drama, based on the true story of two Indian baseball pitchers, Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, who were discovered by sports agent J. B. Bernstein, after winning a reality show competition.

“Disney approached me for this project, and I was pretty excited about it,” says A.R. Rehman.

Million Dollar Arm has fourteen tracks, and Rahman has collaborated with many international and Indian artistes for this album.

Skilled in Carnatic music, Western and Hindustani classical music and the Qawwali style of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahman is noted for film songs amalgamating elements of these and other genres, layering instruments from different musical idioms in an improvisational style.

A.R. Rehman has received many awards amongst them are two Academy Awards and two Grammy Awards for best film music and for best original score.

This makes A.R. Rehman undoubtedly the Million Dollar Musician!
