From Iruvar To A Slick Thriller; Aishwarya Rai And Mani Ratnam Have Come a Long Way

Aishwarya Rai MainIt was in the year 1997 when Aishwarya Rai, who is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan now, made her debut with Mani Ratnam‘s Iruvar and if all goes well that she would be making her comeback with a film directed by Mani Ratnam.

The news of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan getting back to celluloid has been doing the rounds for quite some time now. Aishwarya has been on a break from almost three years now, because of baby Aaradhya but then its seems the wait is soon going to be over as Aishwariya is all set to be a Mani Ratanam’s next.

If reports are to be believed, Aishwarya may have said yes to Mani Ratnam‘s next and this bit of information was let out by none other than Mani Ratnam‘s wife Suhasini in an interview to a south Indian channel.

Suhasini further went on to add that the film’s greatly inspired by the action-packed Hollywood flicks Mission Impossible and The Bourne Identity.

In other words, it’s an espionage-thriller starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead alongside South super stars, Nagarjuna and Mahesh Babu. Adding to the cast would be Shruti Haasan who is already on board and another Pakistani actress too shall be roped in.

The film will kick star in June 2014 and it will be shot in Telugu as well as Tamil. Of what we know, music maestro A.R. Rehman would be composing music for the film.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has earlier worked with Mani Ratnam in the past in films like Guru and Raavan. Both the film she shared screen space with her husband Abhishek Bachchan.

Mani Ratnam‘s last film Kadal, a romantic drama, failed to set the cash registers ringing. Expectations are high for his new project as it boasts of a huge cast. Vijayanthi Movies will reportedly produce the big budget entertainer in association with Madras Talkies.

Here’s wishing Mani Ratman and the entire cast and crew of this film all the best.
