MUMBAI: Prakash Jha’s next political drama ‘Satyagraha’ which will be shot in Bhopal, the director’s favourite city, from February 11 at a stretch until April has the Big B and Ajay Devgn playing characters modelled on Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal.
“All the actors are with me from February. We complete the shooting on one location. We’ve built a township within Bhopal to represent any small town in North India,” says Prakash Jha.
The sprawling set contains a completely mapped terrain for a town, replete with homes, roads and shops.
Ajay Devgn’s date issue delayed ‘Satyagraha’ a bit. But Prakash Jha is getting ready to roll with his latest film, a dramatic treatise on the ideological clash between a Gandhian patriarch played by Amitabh Bachchan, and his mentor, Ajay Devgn who are finally torn apart by differences of ideology.
The theme has distinct elements from the Anna Hazare-Arvind Kejriwal nexus.
Arjun Rampal and Manoj Bajpayee, the two staple diets in Prakash Jha’s menu, also play important parts.
Interestingly, Kareena Kapoor has been cast as intrepid independent-minded investigative journalist.
Says Prakash, “It’s an extremely contemporary issue. And we’re hoping it would touch a nerve somewhere. We are releasing the film on Independence Day August 15.”
