Shah Rukh Khan Still Banned From Wankhede Stadium

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is very passionate about Cricket and his Indian Premier League (IPL) team - the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will not be able to attend any of his team matches scheduled in the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is very passionate about Cricket and his Indian Premier League (IPL) team – the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will not be able to attend any of his team matches scheduled in the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

As we reported earlier (SEE REPORT), a representative from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was to meet with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to resolve the ban on Shah Rukh Khan, Saturday. However, it looks like the MCA has stuck to its decision, taken last year.

MCA joint secretary Nitin Dalal said, “There is a clause in the agreement we are to sign with Mumbai Indians tomorrow that any person who has been debarred by the association cannot enter our premises. It’s not specific to any single person.”

Since the clause applies to all persons, superstar Shah Rukh Khan will not be able to attend the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 7, at the Wankhede Stadium.

“We had informed everyone concerned, including IPL authorities and team owners, about the ban after the decision had been taken,” added Dalal.

Background

After his team KKR won the IPL match in 2012, superstar Shah Rukh Khan allegedly entered the stadium grounds. Reports say that he got involved in a scuffle with the security guard and an MCA official, due to which a five year ban was imposed on the actor.

For now, in spite of repeated attempts from IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla to solve the matter, the bans stands.

Meanwhile, SRK and his Red Chillies Entertainment are all set to host the IPL 6 opening eve at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium on 2 April, Tuesday. Bollywood beauties Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and international rapper Pitbull will be joining Shah Rukh Khan in his grand performance.
