MUMBAI: Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have appeared in the video for Yo Yo Honey Singh’s new song ‘Lungi Dance – The Thalaivar(r) Tribute’. The song is a tribute to South superstar Rajinikanth.
Coincidentally, the song isn’t a part of the movie ‘Chennai Express’ like everyone was thinking. It is a single released by Yo Yo Honey Singh upon which Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are piggy-backing.
The song consists of lyrics like “Mucho ko thoda round ghumake, Anna ke jaisa chashma lagake, coconut mai lasi milake, aajao sare mood banake.” It also asks “all the Rajini fans” to not miss the chance to do the Lungi Dance. The set has larger-than-life replicas of Rajinikanth posters as milk is poured over it as well as the ‘Chennai Express’ train. Some stills featuring Rajinikanth from films like ‘Robot’ are visible throughout too.
Surprisingly, neither Shah Rukh Khan nor Deepika Padukone wear lungis throughout the entire video.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan also has tweeted about his favourite lyric from the song.
“Ghar mein jaakar tum Google kar lo…mere baare mein Wikipedia pe padh lo”…Thalaiva Tribute…Lungi dance. I really like these words…

Shah Rukh Khan has gone all out in promoting ‘Chennai Express’. Hopefully, this connection with Rajinikanth gets more eyeballs into the theater. ‘Chennai Express’ releases on 9 August, 2013.
