MUMBAI: ‘The Bachelorette India — Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika’, the reality show on Life OK is everything else but genuine.
First, Mallika Sherawat announcing to the world that she is looking for a soul mate shocked the world and now what when we see the drama unfold its best – we just let it pass.
‘The Bachelorette India — Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika’ is the first official version of the international reality show ‘The Bachelorette’ because we have seen three and half versions of this same reality show on Imagine TV but then they were not official version but were inspired.
But how come ‘three and a half’?
Here it is – it all began with Rakhi Sawant then Rahul Mahajan followed by Ratan Rajput and how can we forget the promos of Veena Ka Vivah which could never see the light of the day.
Coming back to ‘The Bachelorette India — Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika’, Mallika is looking for love and will choose her suitor among the dozen odd shortlisted guys. Initially they were thirty guys but now have whittled down to about eleven. The most shocking part is the fact that Mallika Sherawat chose a sixty three year old Professor Sudershan Batra to woo her. She kept him on for a couple of episodes before eliminating him.
Vinay Jhambh who openly proclaimed that he likes ‘dating married women’ is still going strong and last but not the least Saurabh Siddheshwari Sharma who crossed the line in his very first meeting and hugged Mallika is still on the show.
The latest update on Saurabh Siddheshwari Sharma is that he wrote a letter to one of Mallika’s female assistants and if reports are to be believed then the note read ‘I AM LONELY’ along with his contact number and he would be thrown out of the show on 21, October, 2013.
On the rating front ‘The Bachelorette India — Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika’ got an average of 1,700 TVT in its opening week (the launch episode got 2,500 TVT).
It’s much lower than what other non-fiction shows got in their first week.
For instance, ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ garnered 8,705 and ‘Bigg Boss 7’ 5,080 TVT.
May be its in lure of big bucks that might have prompted Mallika Sherawat to scout for a partner through a reality show because its difficult to believe that a Bollywood actress who has had a tryst with Hollywood hasn’t been able to find a companion.
