April 20, 2007, the day when Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai became Man and Wife and its been a blissful seven years since then.
Aishwarya and Abhishek are the most glamorous couple in Bollywood and today April 20, 2014 they are celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary.
Also what’s coincidental is that fact that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the only Bachchan who has Abhishek Bachchan’s grandfather complete second name; Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
Aishwarya and Abhishek, who first met on the sets of Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, tied the knot on April 20, 2007 at a private ceremony at the Bachchan’s Juhu residence, Prateeksha. Wedding was held as per the north Indian, Bengali and Tulu traditions.
With Aishwarya Rai being a South Indian belonging to Mangalore’s Bunt Community and Abhishek hailing from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, their marriage ceremony witnessed the cross-cultural factor.
The duo went on to pair in Kuch Naa Kaho in the year 2003, followed by Umrao Jaan and Dhoom 2 both in the year 2006 and Guru in the year 2007. It was widely speculated that romance blossomed between them, during the making of the last three films.
Abhishek Bachchan reportedly proposed to Aishwarya Rai in New York, right after the premiere of Mani Ratnam‘s Guru and they got engaged on January 14 2007.
The couple then went on to star in Ram Gopal Varma‘s Sarkar Raj in the year 2008 and Mani Ratnam‘s Raavan in the year 2010, post marriage.
Aishwarya gave birth to their daughter Aaradhya Bachchan in 2011, and has since then been on a sabbatical from acting.
There have been reports that Abhishek and Aishwarya are likely to reunite onscreen in Prahlad Kakkar‘s Happy Anniversary, which has been touted as the actress’ comeback film. However, recent reports claim that a Mani Ratnam thriller made as a multilingual in the South languages will be her comeback film.
