MUMBAI: Bhupendra J. Gupta has finally completed his maiden film Unns, which has been in the making for almost two years. The urge for creative desire made Gupta, who has a chemicals business, foray into films.
Apart from producing, Gupta has conceived and directed the film under the banner of Buneesha Films. The film has Sanjay Kapoor, Rituparna Sengupta, Sudhanshu Pandde, Juhi Babbar and Aman Verma in the cast.
“Unns is an Arabic word for love. I was honoured with the late Sunil Dutt sahab sounding the mahurat clapper board for my film and I am dedicating the film to him. Unns deals with instant marriages and break-ups. The film was held up for few months, but finally the first copy of the film is out and I am looking forward to release the film in October this year,†he says.
“Budgeted at Rs. 20 million (Rs. 2 crore), the film is almost sold all over. I have yet to recover my investments. I have different arrangements in various territories so that my film sees the light of the day. In Mumbai, it is with Sujata Films on a commission basis. In the overseas market, it is being distributed by Eros on fifty-fifty basis. The audio is with Das Music on a basis of Rs 4 per cassette and Rs 15 per CDs. They have even offered to buy the satellite and home video rights,†Gupta adds.
Gupta is determined not to be cowed down by the returns. “Whatever the return of this film is, I will surely launch my second film after this gets released.”
