MUMBAI: The music of Percept Picture Company’s (PPC) forthcoming film Jai Santoshi Maa was released on 7 September by Rakesh Roshan and Salman Khan. The film is a remake of Jai Santoshi Maa that released in 1975 and was directed and produced by Vijay Sharma and Satram Rohara respectively.
The title track ‘Main Toh Aarti Utaraoon Re Santoshi Maa Ki’, composed by C Arjun, is one of the most popular bhajans to this day. The music of Jai Santoshi Maa has been composed by Aanuu Malik.
“The music created in 1975 is still very popular in the form of bhajan and hence I had to work that much harder to live up to the music by maintaining the essence and at the same time bringing in my originality,” says Malik.
The songs have been rendered by Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam, Kailash Kher and Karunya (Indian Idol fame).
Jai Santoshi Maa has been directed by Ahmed Siddiqui and stars Rakesh Bapat and the debutant Nushrat Bharucha. The film was shot on a 22 day schedule in Hyderabad and a 10 day schedule in Mumbai. Announced five months back in April, the movie will be released on 29 September. Based on a mythological subject, the film has incorporated visual effects that are being executed at Prasad Labs.
