MUMBAI : Anticipating a good opening weekend, the cinema hall owners opened the advance booking counters for Krrish on Sunday June 18 in multiplexes and on Monday June 19 in single screens across the country. The tickets rates too have been hiked in both the multiplexes as well as the single screen cinema halls. As expected this strategy has worked wonders. Within a few hours of opening the ticket counters, the entire weekend tickets have been sold out.
Multiplexes are running 11 to 13 shows of Krrish and all of them have been sold out for the weekend.“People had queued up for advance bookings of Krrish from as early as 5:30 am in the morning. This rare feat has happened before only for movies like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Lagaan (2001) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum (2001)”, says Manoj Desai, Executive Director of G-7 Multiplex and Maratha Mandir Cinema hall.
Rakesh Roshan is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the film’s success. First he pre-poned Krissh release date from June 30 to June 23 to avoid direct competition with Superman Returns. Both being superhero films, there was a strong possibility of unwanted saturation of the themes. Secondly he is releasing the film with a staggering 800 prints all over.
Going by the record opening Krrish is garnering it seems the Roshans have already
advanced a hit even before the film’s release.
