MUMBAI: Shringar Films is ecstatic over the response that Lage Raho Munnabhai has been getting. What’s more a huge cake with words ‘Lage Raho Shringar’ inscribed was also cut recently. Shringar manager Girdhar Duseja said, “We wanted to celebrate the success of the film with our staff.”
Aditya B. Shroff added, “Gandhism or films on Gandhi never worked. Take the case of Hey Ram and Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara. However, the simplicity of Gandhi’s message narrated in Lage Raho Munnabhai worked wonders with the audience. The film has done well and the second week prospects of the box-office collections are better than the first week. Looking at the enthusiastic response and the audience positive reaction to Gandhi’s philosophy has prompted us to apply for tax free in Bombay city-suburbs and other circuits. We are hoping to avail the tax-free scheme within a week or two. Gujarat will first benefit from this scheme by 21 September.”
Lage Raho Munnabhai Delhi-UP distributor Anil Thadani informed, “The film is picking up. The figures are encouraging from Tuesday, when the government exempted the film from entertainment tax.”
