MUMBAI: Sushmita Sen’s Zindaggi Rocks! Having worked on the film with director Tanuja Chandra, Sen is on a high.
Talking about Tanuja Chandra, Sen says, “Tanuja is one of most intelligent filmmakers we have, who likes to project realism through her films even while maintaining the format and idiom of the commercial mainstream Hindi cinema. What I like about her is the fact that she is a very patient teacher who picks up colloquial dialogues, which we tend to use in our day-to-day life. The comfort level I had, as an actor, was very evident when I worked with her in Zindaggi Rocks.“
“I think Zindaggi Rocks is Tanuja’s finest work till date. If you, as an actor have a personal equation with her, half the battle is won on the sets. She is very clear about what she wants exactly as a director from her actors. Technically, she is quite a progressive director. Her strength is to give an actor several layers to perform, even when the scene is a silent one,” she adds.
Sen is also full of praises for her producer Anurradha Prasad (B.A.G Films) who she says gave Tanuja a free hand to extract the best out of all the performers in Zindaggi Rocks. She says, “Anurradha has had a lot of experience in television and that showed here even though this is her first film.”
“Zindaggi Rocks is a rocking film with women at the helm of affairs comprising Anurradha as the producer, Tanuja as the director and Moushumiji and me as actors. In fact, Moushumiji has played a double role for the first time in her career spanning almost three decades. I learnt a lot after observing her at work in close quarters,” says Sen.
Zindaggi Rocks is slated to release on 6 October and also stars Kim Sharma, Moushmi Chatterjee, Ravi Gosain and child artist Julian. The music is composed by Anu Malik and lyrics are by Mudassar Aziz and Syeed Quadri.
