First Warner Bros Studio store at Macau

MUMBAI: Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), PMW Retail Group Ltd. (PMW) and Cartoon Matters Co. Ltd. celebrated the grand opening of the first Warner Bros. Studio Store in Macau.

The 300 square-meter store occupies part of the Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Center. The store is operated by Cartoon Matters, which has been granted the rights to open and operate Warner Bros. Studio Stores in Macau, through a sub-license from PMW.

The Warner Bros. Studio Store at Macau Tower offers a diverse assortment of quality merchandise inspired by the glamour and excitement of Warner Bros. Entertainment’s range of personalities, from the irreverent humor of Tweety and the Looney Tunes, the non-stop chase of Tom and Jerry, and the magic of Harry Potter, to the super powers of DC Comics’ Superman and Batman.

“The entertainment properties of Warner Bros. continue to gain popularity in China and the opening of this first Warner Bros. Studio Store in Macau is a significant milestone for us. Following the debut of our Shanghai flagship store in March, the Macau store opening expands the retail reach of our properties in China into another significant market,” said WBCP senior vice president, international licensing Jeffrey Whalen.

Michelle Chan, Group Managing Director of HHR, parent company of PMW, which holds the exclusive rights of Warner Bros. Studio Stores in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, said, “WBCP is one of the leading and most diversified licensing and retailing organizations in the world. Coupling the strong entertainment brands of Warner Bros. with the unique marketing edge of Shun Tak in the travel and tourism sector, this cooperation will bring our beloved characters to fans in this fast-growing tourist destination.”

A grand opening ceremony was held with executives from the three companies, celebrities, performers and a lineup of popular Warner Bros. and DC Comics characters in a lively stage show.

The celebration was a dazzling live show on its own. Tweety led the way along with nine dancers in an exhilarating performance, followed by the famous Looney Tunes characters in a delightful musical. The occasion was drawn to its climax when Batman flew down from the top of Macau Tower to rescue Hong Kong popular artist Stephy Tang and Theresa Fu from the hands of villain Ra’s Al Ghul.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products and PMW Retail Group Ltd. opened the first Warner Bros. Studio Store in China earlier this year in Shanghai.
