Munnabhai’s tryst with the Oscars begins

MUMBAI: Lage Raho Munnabhai was the opening film for The University of Southern California’s first ever Indian film festival. The film has been entered as an independent entry to the Oscars from India.


The film was screened before a capacity audience at the Frank Sinatra Auditorium on 27 October. Students and faculty of the university were impressed with the movie, which is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.


Lage Raho Munnabhai stars Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Vidya Balan and Boman Irani.


Post the screeing of the film, a question and answer session followed with Chopra, Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi. The screening was also attended by Bend It like Beckham and Bhaaji on the Beach director Gurinder Chaddha.
