Comic book on Shah Rukh’s Don to launch

MUMBAI: After Lage Raho Munnabhai, this year’s other big film release Don is also gearing up to make an appearance in comic books.

The 80-page movie based comic – ‘movic’ – will be based on the plot of the movie itself and will involve all its characters.

Confirming the development exclusively to Businessofcinema.com, producer Ritesh Sidhwani says, “We have begun work on the comic book and it will be printed and ready by 6 November. It will be distributed free at multiplexes against the tickets of Don.”

When queried what gave rise to this idea, Sidhwani informs, “We were toying with this idea for a long time, but after the tremendous response that Don received from kids, it motivated us to go ahead and make the comic book.”

This comic book will be distributed in multiplexes in its third week, after most of the audiences have already seen the film. “In the third week Don will have repeat audience, most of who will be kids and youngsters, at whom the book is targetted at.”

Moreover, Sidhwani wants the book to appeal to the kids and hence is taking pains to put it together. “I didn’t want it to be like just another book, which kids will not look at after a few days. I want this book to be preserved by them, so I am putting efforts in the book for it to appeal to them.”

Don, which was released on 20 October, stars Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Isha Koppikar and Arjun Rampal. The film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and directed by Farhan Akhtar.
