Confirms Chandra, “I am making a film on the lines of Tezaab, but it will be more intense than the original. It will be an action – love story and will be produced by T A Shah, who last presented Vishram Sawant’s Risk. I am still undecided on the cast of the film.”
Chandra’s Tezaab, released in 1988, had put him amongst the top rung of filmmakers. The film that starred Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor, had bagged four Filmfare Awards in 1989 (Best Actor: Anil Kapoor, Best Choreographer: Saroj Khan, Best Dialogue Writer: Kamlesh Pandey, Best Playback singer: Alka Yagnik for ‘Ek Do Teen…;). Madhuri Dixit had been nominated for the Best Actress Award.
Chandra, who started with Ankush in 1986, followed it up with Pratighaat and is regarded as the filmmaker who started the trend of making sequels to his own films. He made Style in 2001 and Xcuse Me in 2003. In the same year, he filmed a cop flick, Kagaar-Living On The Edge.
